Cirris E.C.B. Hatfield
Cirris Hatfield established the Hatfield Law Firm with her husband Matthew in 2008, after several years working as a Staff Attorney for the Honorable Laurence Van Meter of the Kentucky Court of Appeals and as an Assistant Public Advocate in the Murray Trial Branch of the Kentucky Department of Public Advocacy. In addition to her practice with the Hatfield Law Firm, where she works primarily in the areas of wills, trusts, estate planning/probate and divorce/separation and uncontested divorce, Cirris is also an Assistant Commonwealth’s Attorney for the 42nd Judicial Circuit of Kentucky.
Cirris obtained her undergraduate degree from Transylvania University in Lexington and earned her Juris Doctor law degree from the University of Kentucky College of Law. She is an active member of the Kentucky Bar Association and is admitted to practice in all Kentucky state courts.
Matthew S. Hatfield
Matthew Hatfield is a co-founder, along with his wife Cirris, of the Hatfield Law Firm in Murray, where he concentrates his legal practice in the areas of car and truck accidents and other personal injury, estate planning and probate, real estate and collections matters. Prior to opening the Hatfield Law Firm, Matthew was engaged in private practice and also served as Staff Attorney for the Honorable David C. Buckingham of the Kentucky Court of Appeals. Since 2009 he has also prosecuted felony criminal matters as an Assistant Commonwealth’s Attorney for the 42nd Judicial Circuit of Kentucky. Additionally, Matthew has taught Estate Planning as an Adjunct Professor at Murray State University.
Matthew is a passionate advocate for injured individuals and their families and he has successfully handled a wide range of personal injury cases, including catastrophic injuries and wrongful death. He has a track record of winning complex litigation in the courtroom and securing positive outcomes in private negotiation. He also enjoys helping individuals and families prepare their estates by taking a comprehensive approach that minimizes risk and costs, plans for incapacity, and promotes the effective and efficient transfer of assets, including the use of a variety of trusts, wills, powers of attorney, and more. Frequently he assists with the purchase or refinancing of real estate through title examinations, title insurance, document preparation and loan closings.
Matthew graduated from Tulane University with a degree in the Philosophy of Law, and later earned his Juris Doctor law degree from Saint Louis University School of Law. He is a member of the Kentucky Bar Association, the Kentucky Justice Association and the American Association for Justice, and he is a Past President of the Calloway County Bar Association. Matthew is licensed to practice law in all Kentucky state courts as well as the United States District Court for the Western District of Kentucky. Matthew is President of Athena’s Angels, Inc., a non-profit organization with the goal of providing assistance to children with vision problems in the form of toys and educational materials.
