Matthew S. Hatfield
Meet Matthew S. Hatfield, the founder of the Hatfield Law Firm in Murray, and let him help you with your Kentucky legal issues. He is a passionate advocate for injured individuals and their families and has successfully handled a wide range of personal injury cases, including catastrophic injuries and wrongful death. He has a track record of winning complex litigation in the courtroom and securing positive outcomes in private negotiation. Matt also enjoys helping individuals and families prepare their estates by taking a comprehensive approach that minimizes risk and costs, plans for incapacity, and promotes the effective and efficient transfer of assets, including the use of a variety of trusts, wills, powers of attorney, and more. Frequently he assists with the purchase or refinancing of real estate through title examinations, title insurance, document preparation and loan closings. Another area of expertise Matt has, is with criminal defense. Prior to opening the Hatfield Law Firm, Matthew was engaged in private practice and also served as Staff Attorney for the Honorable David C. Buckingham of the Kentucky Court of Appeals. From 2009-2017 he had also prosecuted felony criminal matters as an Assistant Commonwealth’s Attorney for the 42nd Judicial Circuit of Kentucky. Additionally, Matthew has taught Estate Planning as an Adjunct Professor at Murray State University.
Matthew graduated from Tulane University with a degree in the Philosophy of Law, and later earned his Juris Doctor Law degree from Saint Louis University School of Law. He is a member of the Kentucky Bar Association, the Kentucky Justice Association and the American Association for Justice, and he is a Past President of the Calloway County Bar Association. Matthew is licensed to practice law in all Kentucky state courts as well as the United States District Court for the Western District of Kentucky. Matthew is President of Athena’s Angels, Inc., a non-profit organization with the goal of providing assistance to children with vision problems in the form of toys and educational materials.
